In places where the night sky is very dark, the zodiacal light can be seen low in the west after sunset, and low in the east before sunrise. The zodiacal light is sunlight scattered from dust in our Solar System. The dust comes from comets and asteroid collisions, and is aligned with the place of the ecliptic – the plane in which our Sun orbits the Sun.
